Overview
Server Control Panel is a private dashboard for my self-hosted services. It gives me one place to check server resources, service status, network use, and backups.
I built the panel because the server used several separate monitoring tools. The panel puts the most useful information into one clear view.
What I built
- Added live CPU, memory, storage, network, and uptime data
- Added health checks for web services and Docker containers
- Added a backup card with the last run, next run, and result
- Added a public status view with limited service information
- Added protected access for private server controls
- Connected the panel to monitoring services with read-only access
- Deployed the panel as an isolated Docker service behind a reverse proxy
Approach
The panel reads data from existing monitoring services. It does not need full access to the server. Private credentials stay outside the web app.
The main screen shows the information that I need first. Detailed controls stay on separate pages. This keeps the dashboard compact and easy to scan.
Outcome
The panel gives me a simple view of the server and its main services. It also makes failed checks and backup problems easier to find.
This project taught me how to design a useful interface for live system data. It also taught me to limit access between services and keep private controls separate from public status information.
